Strum was retained to determine how to source and ensure a vital supply of high-quality groundwater for a growing commercial development. The addition of a number of buildings on-site and at adjacent developments threatened to leave an inadequate supply of water for potable use. Further, additional development was planned, requiring that a well supply and protection strategy be developed to ensure long-term water availability. Strum reviewed existing area demands, bedrock yields, water quality, and anticipated growth and demand in the area. Evaluation of yields was verified through the development of a hydrogeological budget. Well testing was also completed to verify estimated yield and water quality assumptions. Then a well-field protection strategy was developed, new lands were identified for placement of backup wells, and a well-field pumping level and long-term downhole monitoring system was specified to ensure pumping levels were being monitored.
