Desktop Support Administrator

The Opportunity
Strum is looking for a dependable and technically skilled Desktop Support Administrator to join our IT team in St. John’s. This role is primarily responsible for providing day-to-day technical support to end users, maintaining desktop systems and applications, and ensuring a high standard of service delivery across the organization.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Diploma, Certificate, or relevant coursework in Information Technology or Computer Science.
- Must possess a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Professional, customer-focused attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Willingness to be available for occasional off-hours support or after-hours maintenance as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in an IT support or desktop support role.
- Basic understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS).
- Proficiency with Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365 apps, and remote support tools.
- Experience using a ticketing system (e.g., ServiceNow, Freshservice, Jira).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Intune or other MDM platforms.
- Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, and excellent communication skills.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the first point of contact for end-user technical issues related to desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktop operating systems (primarily Windows) and common software applications.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software problems, resolving issues efficiently or escalating when appropriate.
- Provide technical support both remotely and in-person across office environments or satellite locations.
- Support user account administration in Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and other enterprise systems.
- Assist in the setup and deployment of new hardware, including asset tracking.
- Maintain and update IT documentation, asset inventory, and support logs.
- Support basic network troubleshooting (connectivity, VPN, printers).
- Collaborate with the IT team on routine system updates, patching, and backup procedures.
- Travel and work throughout Atlantic Canada as needed.
- Adhere to Strum’s health and safety program and ensure safety procedures and protocols are followed.
