Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician
Key Responsibilities
- Willingness to work on a variety of environmental and engineering related projects
- Assist with environmental plans on a wide range of projects such a stream restoration, stormwater management, environmental inventory maps, permitting, and graphics for reports
- Prepare base plans using mapping information supplied by others
- Assist with various field programs related to water quality monitoring in the coastal marine environment
- Assist with various field programs related to environmental assessments, wetland and watercourse assessments, wildlife assessments and other programs.
- Maintain detailed notes regarding work
- Attention to detail and proficiency in using software tools
- As requested, assist with field review of infrastructure construction
- Collect data and prepare drawings for field staff.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree, technical diploma and equivalent training and experience
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience
- Proficient in ESRI’s ArcGIS Suite software
- Experience with QGIS and ArcGIS online
- Willingness to learn and work as a member of a team compromised of biologists, engineers and technicians
- Must possess a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
- Willing to travel to sites which may involve long hours, inclement weather, and remote locations
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment to a high degree of detail
- Desire to be involved with company growth and development throughout Atlantic Canada
