Strum Consulting, is presently expanding our Civil Engineering Division and has an opening in our Bedford office for a Technician / Technologist to join our team.

The position requires a highly motivated individual with both technical and communication skills, a positive attitude, good interpersonal skills, and strong organizational and communication skills. Role Description:

As a Technician/Technologist, you will support the Civil Engineering Division by preparing civil engineering drawings in line with established standards and procedures.  This position will require close collaboration with other technicians, technologists, engineers, surveyors and scientists.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Strum’s health and safety program and ensure safety procedures and protocols are followed.
  • Willingness to work on a variety of engineering and environmental related projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of site sketches, engineering drawings including plan and profile drawings, concept plans, site grading plans, site servicing plans, etc.
  • Prepare base plans using mapping information supplied by others.
  • Maintain detailed notes regarding work.
  • Attention to detail and proficiency in using software tools is a must.
  • As requested, assist with field review of construction activities. Collect data, and prepare as-built drawings.
  • Demonstrated project setup ability and familiarity with common industry protocols including National CAD standards
  • Attend and participate in weekly internal team meetings and coordinate with team members to ensure efficient and timely delivery of projects within the schedule.
  • Support existing teams while demonstrating ability to work independently and as part of a larger close-knit team.

Attributes and skills:

  • A degree, technical diploma or equivalent training and experience
  • Advanced drafting skills using recent versions of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience working with Civil 3D preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, motivation, and excellent communications skills.
  • Possess professional demeanour and communicate with excellent verbal and written skills in English.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • A valid Nova Scotia Drivers License is preferred, but not required.
