Remedial Planning and Site Supervision
Strum has extensive expertise responding to and coordinating the remediation of fuel oil releases. Following a recent loss of approximately 500 litres of fuel oil at a residential property in Indian Harbour, our rapid response team quickly assessed the site to determine the extent of the impacts, identified sensitive receptors, and developed a remedial action plan to mitigate and remediate the spill. Site activities involved: relocating the on-site structure, excavation of contaminated soils, removal of contaminated water, and delineation via boreholes. Monitoring wells were also installed to assess contaminant migration in groundwater and monitor groundwater conditions, and the on-site well was monitored to confirm water quality of the potable well. Strum also closely supervised and provided direction to the remediation contractor. Following remediation and monitoring, regulatory closure was obtained from NSE.
